One of the GTA's fastest-growing cities

Brampton has been among the fastest-growing municipalities in the country for years, and its housing stock is correspondingly young: large stretches of the city are newer subdivisions built from the 1990s onward, with detached homes and townhomes that generally cost less than comparable properties in neighbouring Mississauga or Vaughan. Bramalea, in the city's centre, is the exception, a planned community from the 1960s that predates most of the growth around it and has its own established character.

Where the newest growth is

Mount Pleasant and Springdale, on the city's north and west sides, are where the newest construction is concentrated, master-planned subdivisions with a GO station (Mount Pleasant) built alongside the housing rather than added later. Brampton also has a large, well-established South Asian community, particularly Punjabi, reflected in the businesses and community infrastructure across the city.

Getting around

GO Transit's Kitchener line serves Brampton and Mount Pleasant stations into Union Station, Brampton Transit's Züm bus rapid transit network covers major corridors, and Highway 410 runs north-south through the city connecting to the 401 and 407.
